Honestly, the reinforcement training doesn’t seem all that impressive… it’s clearly just a distillation of GPT4, seems like they just figured out a nice optimization. It doesn’t strike me as something the industry can’t sort out

The beauty of this troll is people don’t actually care what it looks like, they refuse to use it for cause. But adding 21st-century graphics to these headsets gives Zuckerburg something to do for a while. Ironically, there is some cool stuff in Horizon Worlds, but it’s obvious that conventional VR will be blown away by AR in the next few years so nobody bothers.

The Quest 2 is great, but everything else about Meta screams cringe. It makes them extremely unlikable, seems like unless they figure out how to be a bit cooler it will ruin them.

Interestingly, I think Oculus/Meta is poised to be a major platform (the technology is good) so this reset could really help the likes of Apple and Microsoft who need more runway before they’re ready to pounce with their initiatives.
