Oh it’s definitely weird, but I get the sense that he was given bad advice and his heart was in the right place. you might find that given better guidance he might really try to please you and you may like it. I say be honest with him and give him another chance!

Be nice to your stepmom, OP. She literally is making your food, seems nice enough to me. If she sucks at cooking, then it’s probably even a nicer thing for her to cook for you anyways. Trust me, you’ll both like each other better if you put forth a bit of effort. The key to a nice peaceful life is having peace with your roommates.

The thing is, we eat at these luncheons maybe once every dozen or so occassions, so I am effectively imposing a diet on other people. I do it with good intentions, though, as well to alleviate some of my own guilt (as I said, I don’t want to be the impetus for others eating meat if I can help it).

Seems like you know the answer then. I think the pollution toll of actually feeding your staff is tolerable. Either way, you shouldn’t try and make everything about your beliefs do what you think would make the group happy.

Gym etiquette is pretty clear in this regard, people basically are an island unto themselves, and the less interaction the better; you shouldn’t even be looking in people’s directions if you can avoid it. Sounds to me like a better gym is in order. Obviously, you don’t want to confront this creep, seems like the gym should either step up and deal with this without involving you or you should just find a place where this kind of thing isn’t an issue.

You really shouldn’t have told the poor girl she ruined the mood, it doesn’t seem true and obviously, even if she did making her feel bad over it was unhelpful. So YTA in my book.
